Established on April 17, 1998, Annex is the longest running, active IT recruitment company in British Columbia.
In those early days, Annex was just me providing consulting services as a project manager, business analyst and management consultant. I soon realized that nothing made me happier than helping a client and consultant successfully work together. As a result, over time I stopped billing my own time and focused on assisting as many clients and consultants as possible.
Annex’s services include staff augmentation contracting, permanent staffing, and outsourced solutions. We provide contractors, employees and project delivery in the following areas: software development, quality assurance, project management, business analysis, network infrastructure, change management, strategy, ERP, SaaS and cloud, architecture, training, technical writing and IT management.
Annex staffs its projects with employees and members of the Annex Alliance, our consortium of independent IT and business consultants. The Annex Alliance started with less than ten people. Today, we have 25,000 IT and business professionals in BC, 200,000 in Canada, and two million in North America. We can find just about any skill across the continent. In the early days of Annex, most of our work was in British Columbia. We now have multiple offices and in the last year Annex has completed projects in most Canadian provinces, a dozen US states and two countries in Europe.
Annex provides a number of key advantages to our clients. First, Annex is uniquely a hybrid organization that has the ability to do both IT recruitment (e.g., staff augmentation contracting and permanent staffing) as well as outsourced IT solutions. We are fortunate to have grown the business substantially over the years. Annex has an average year-over-year revenue growth of more than 60% since the company’s inception. We have doubled our staff in the last 18 months. Annex is ranked one of PROFIT Magazine’s Fastest-Growing Companies in Canada again this year. We have achieved this honour six times in the last eight years, even during the global economic downturn. Branham Group has ranked Annex as one of Canada’s 250 largest tech companies for the last ten consecutive years. Much of our growth has been due to the Annex Referral Program, an innovative spin on a traditional concept. The program has been featured in daily newspapers across Canada, three business magazines, and in a book on Canadian entrepreneurs by a best-selling author. It also resulted in Annex being awarded one of BC’s Top 20 Innovators and was featured in the Innovators series in the Financial Post. Another reason for our significant growth is that we have always lived by our core values: integrity, service, quality, value, balance and community. Unfortunately, not every company in our industry operates with integrity so that alone is a differentiator for Annex. I mentioned service, quality and value earlier. In terms of balance, Annex offers a fun, collaborative environment rather than being internally competitive. Believe it or not, that is also a differentiator in the IT recruitment industry. Our collaborative approach provides the best possible service to consultants. Finally, we use our modest success to actively give back to the local community though donations of time, money and leadership.
